About Us

Hi!

We’re Jane and Kate, two best friends behind the scenes of the ‘Sex in the Suburbs’ blog.

We started hashing out the idea for Sex in the Suburbs in early 2008. For as long as we can remember, we’ve wanted to collaborate on a project together that involved blogging and women. We considered gardening (yawn), scrapbooking (bored Jane to tears) and organic/healthy living (lost Kate from the get-go).

Like many friendships, ours has endured its share of ups-and-downs over the years through college, travel, careers, marriage and children.

Then we got real with ourselves. We grabbed our magic pencils, a notepad and got down to business of writing down our favorite topics. Yep, you guessed it: S-E-X topped the list, much to the delight of our husbands, who quickly volunteered to serve as advisors, mentors and contributors to our new venture (if only they had the same enthusiasm about laundry).

We started to wonder if other women had the same questions, issues and feelings about sex. Sure enough, we realized early on that whether we share intimate details with our girlfriends, practice it with our spouse or address it in a positive and healthy manner with our children, sex is something everyone talks about!

So we started ‘Sex in the Suburbs’ as a way to take our gab-fest public and give you a chance to join the discussion and have your say.

Whether it’s about romantic getaways, going solo or living out your fantasy, we promise our blog will entertain, educate and enlighten you about sex. We hope you will enjoy Sex in the Suburbs.

Our Background

We met during our freshman year in high school when leg warmers and Hootie and the Blowfish were just getting popular.

But we’re like sisters. And people who witness our close bond swear we’re sisters, even though Kate is a petite 4’11” Italian fireball and Jane is a 6’ German Goddess. Sisters? Close enough – it works for us!

kateKate is a professional journalist-turned-teacher who lives on the East Coast with her charming husband and five-year-old son. When she’s not on deadline or gabbing with Jane on the phone (thank goodness for those unlimited long-distance plans), Kate enjoys spending time with her family, scrapbooking and hanging out with friends.

Jane is a writer, blogger and business woman who lives on the West Coast with her brilliant husband and one-year-old son. When she’s not insanely busy writing, researching, working full-time and mothering, Jane likes to relax by spending time with her family, checking out the local sights and traveling.

So grab a cup of tea (or your hubby) and enjoy our blog!

Sincerely,

~Jane and Kate~
